A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect
Conditions continue to become more favorable for widespread fog including dense fog. A greater concern is the possibility of Super Fog developing. Numerous fires mainly due to burning of agricultural fields like Sugar Cane debris, were seen on satellite and radar today. If any of these are still smoldering overnight, it could easily lead to Super Fog. However, that will be extremely localized and only within the immediate vicinity of that fire.
The information above is from the National Weather Service. I visited with our State Climatologist this morning and we both agree that conditions are such that we could see super fog conditions for at least the next 7 days. Out of an abundance of caution, I ask that your growers refrain from any prescribed agricultural or debris burns during this time. I will contact you again should the weather conditions change.
Further, under the precepts of a prescribed burn, the fire should be started in the morning, preferably around ten am and must be fully completed by four pm…
We must all continue to work together in order to preserve our ability to utilize prescribed agricultural burning as a management tool.
