Burn Ban Includes Agricultural Burning

As these horrid drought conditions persist, the state has issued a total burn ban and suspended the law that allows for agricultural field burning. Prescribed burn protocols do not allow field burning under these conditions. In prior burn bans agricultural field burning using the prescribed protocol was allowed, but with the potential for any fire to become catastrophic, all burning in the state is prohibited.

Louisiana Agriculture and Forestry Commissioner Mike Strain asks for your cooperation regarding this situation as there are some 1,200 firefighters in the state right now battling forest fires.
