Assumption Parish Sugarcane Field Day 2023

The 2023 Assumption Parish Sugarcane Field Day was hosted by the LSU AgCenter in Napoleonville on July 11. Enaux A. Rivere Jr. was the recipient of the U.B Simoneaux Distinguished Service Award while Brett Thibodaux was named the “Outstanding Young Farmer.” Field research talks were hosted at the Palo Alto Farm in Donaldsonville managed by Robert “Bubba” Lemann Jr. where LSU researcher Dr. Al Orgeron demonstrated weed science research. At the LSU AgCenter research building, attendees heard talks on a variety of subjects from LSU AgCenter sugar specialist Dr. Kenneth Gravois, American Sugar Cane League manager Jim Simon, and a Mexican rice borer update from entomologist Blake Wilson.
