Louisiana’s senators support good farm policy
The American Sugar Cane League applauded the work of Louisiana’s senators for their role in the passage of the farm bill.
"Senators Bill Cassidy and John Kennedy played a critical role in maintaining no-cost sugar policy in the farm bill,” said Jim Simon, manager of the League. "Their work was invaluable in getting the farm bill passed in the Senate and now farmers will be able to plan accordingly as the bill moves through conference with the House and then to the President’s desk.”
The League represents the state’s 450 sugarcane farming families and 11 sugar mills. The sugarcane industry has a $3 billion impact on the state’s economy and employs more than 16,000 in its workforce.
"Our congressional delegation knows just how important sugarcane is to the state and our producers thank them for supporting our industry,” Simon said.
